“Everything’s Changed - Now What?”:
A Guide to Passenger to Pilot -
The Rebuild Track
Hi - I’m Stephanie, founder of Passenger to Pilot.
I’ve coached leaders, mentored professionals, and helped people step into new versions of themselves through work. But nothing tests your identity like divorce.
When my 18-year marriage ended, it wasn’t just my personal life that shifted.
It was everything. Career plans. Financial realities.
The story I’d been telling myself about who I was and what came next.
I had to rewire everything. Fast.
The PhD I’d planned? Scrapped.
The coaching business I’d been building quietly for years? Launched - full time.
And when my lawyers (Peter Burgess & Maisie Lockyer) saw how I’d navigated that shift,
they asked: “Can you build this for our clients?”
Because they knew what I now see every day:
Some people are holding senior roles - still functioning, but floundering inside.
Others haven’t worked in years, now carrying full financial responsibility.
All are standing at a crossroads where life and career collide and there’s no map.
That’s why I created The Rebuild Track:
Career coaching for people navigating life change and career identity - simultaneously.
To guide them through identity shifts, work transitions, and everything in between
- clearly, powerfully, and with the tools to move forward.
Who this is for
You might be:
· Re-entering work after years out or needing to earn more
· Facing new financial realities and tough career choices
· Trying to re-enter a workforce that’s changed - and so have you
· Still functioning at work but falling apart behind the scenes
· Leading on the outside while feeling unanchored and anxious inside
· Asking yourself: “Who am I now?” or “What do I actually want?”
· Wondering: “Can I do this again?” or “Is it too late to shift careers?”
What Divorce Really Does
(That No One Prepares You For)
· Shifts your sense of self - without warning, and deeply
· Forces financial pivots you didn’t plan for
· Challenges your career confidence - even when you’re highly qualified
· Leaves you trying to explain your life story
· Puts pressure on you to be emotionally resilient and financially independent
· Disrupts your foundations - work, identity, ambition, belief
· Disconnects you from yourself, even as you keep functioning at work
· Brings uncertainty - you’re not sure what you want, or how to say it
· Sparks a quiet desire to feel purposeful again, and rebuild on your own terms
· May land you in front of a judge who tells you it’s time to work again - after years spent caring for children or supporting someone else’s career
What We’ll Work On
The Rebuild Track blends identity and narrative work with career strategy. You don’t need to “start over.” You need to start intentionally.
Together, we’ll:
· Reconnect your voice, values, and ambition - without guilt
· Build a career narrative that makes sense to others (and to you)
· Identify practical next steps - whether re-entry, pivot, or career development
· Address the emotional load of reinvention - privately, respectfully
· Rebuild confidence, stability, and income - on your terms
How I work
Divorce can derail everything: identity, finances, career confidence. So I offer structured thinking, honest challenge, and grounded support to help you rebuild - with clarity and pace that feels right for you.
· I listen - deeply and without judgement
· I ask the questions no one else is asking
· I reflect back what you might be missing
· I help you move from scattered to focused - with a practical plan
· I stay with you through the moments you feel like giving up
We work one-to-one, online or in person, shaping a direction that fits the new version of your life - not the old one.
In Their Words
-
“When my divorce was finalised, I found myself facing the workforce again - not because I wanted to, but because I had to. I’d spent over a decade raising my kids, building a home, holding everything together behind the scenes. But now, I had bills to pay and a life to rebuild.
Working with Stephanie didn’t feel like traditional career coaching. It felt like someone had finally seen the shape of the life I’d lived and helped me carry it forward, instead of discard it.
We didn’t just talk about jobs. We talked about who I was now. We built language around my skills, wove my story into something employers could understand, and found the courage to speak it out loud.
Six months later, I’ve enrolled in a counselling course, started seeing my first supervised clients, and begun mapping out a private practice. But more than that - I feel like I belong to myself again.”

“I was leading a large team in a high-pressure role when my marriage ended. Outwardly, nothing changed. I still delivered. Still met deadlines. Still looked the part.
But inside, everything had shifted. I couldn’t hear myself think. I was second-guessing my judgement, questioning my value, and waking up at 3am with a kind of existential dread I couldn’t explain.
Stephanie gave me a space I didn’t know I needed. She wasn’t there to “fix” anything. She was there to help me see it clearly and make choices with intention, not panic.
We worked on boundaries. Messaging. How to ask for what I needed without sounding like I was unravelling. She helped me recalibrate not just my workload, but my sense of self.
I’m still in my role, but I’ve reclaimed the reins. And I finally feel like I can lead again, from a place of clarity, not survival.”

“It wasn’t just the end of my marriage. It was the collapse of everything I’d planned for. I had built a career, paused it for family, then returned part-time, but I never really felt like I’d come back.
And now, the financial equation had changed. The time equation had changed. I needed to figure out how to be independent again, but I didn’t even know where to begin.
Stephanie met me right there - in the fog, in the fear, in the “I don’t know what I’m doing.”
We worked through my narrative. Took my messy history and shaped it into something strong. She helped me update my LinkedIn, prepare for interviews, and show up with a kind of quiet authority I hadn’t felt in years.
Last month, I accepted a role I never thought I’d be considered for. But more than that - I stopped whispering. I show up now. And I’m building something new - not the old life, just rebooted. A new one. Mine.”
